Mushroom Cultivation Log & Grow Tracking Software

MycologyLog is a free mushroom cultivation journal that helps growers document every stage from inoculation to harvest. Track colonization, record growing conditions, organize photos, compare harvest yields, and save reusable substrate recipes.

Use the built-in mushroom substrate hydration calculator to calculate water ratios and prepare more consistent growing substrates. You may not know which details mattered until harvest, so keep them all in one place.

Fully responsive for phone, tablet, and desktop.

From Roman Snail Farms to Grain-Fed Mushrooms

What can ancient Roman snail husbandry teach us about modern mushroom cultivation? Explore the shift from imitating natural habitats to engineering substrates around carbon-to-nitrogen balance, calcium carbonate, gypsum, and measurable production outcomes.

Nature tells us where an organism has succeeded in surviving. It does not necessarily tell us the limits of what that organism can achieve under cultivation.

Capture Every Detail

Keep a complete digital record of cultivation projects — inoculation to fruiting to harvest.

🧰

Substrate Prep

Track water ratios, ingredients, techniques, and notes.

🌱

Growth Stages

Log colonization, pinning, and fruiting milestones with images.

🗂️

Project Cards

Organize each grow as its own card with events, photos, and yields.

📸

Photo Journaling

Attach images to entries and compare progress over time.

🔁

Smarter Reuse

📊

Harvest & Yields

Record weights and outcomes for consistent improvement.

Track Every Grow, Every Harvest

MycologyLog is more than a simple journal. Each grow has its own record with:

Detailed grow information

Strain, substrate recipe, dates, and notes.

Multiple log entries

Track inoculation, colonization, fruiting, and pinning.

Photo uploads

Automatically build a gallery for each grow.

Harvest logs

Compare yields and techniques side by side.

Learn From Your Data

The goal is to make your mushroom cultivation process smarter. By saving every detail — successes and failures alike — you can repeat what works, avoid past mistakes, and refine your techniques over time.

Whether you’re a hobbyist grower or scaling up production, MycologyLog.com helps you make data-driven decisions about substrates, growing conditions, and timing — leading to better harvests and more consistent results.

Record Your Substrate Formulas

Identify, name, and describe the formulas you use across projects. A built-in rich-text block lets you format notes, add tables, and highlight key parameters.

  • Keep a reusable library of recipes
  • Insert a saved formula into a new project, then fine-tune
  • Standardize your methods and improve consistency

Tip: Save as “HW-Sawdust 20% Bran” and reuse next time.

Built-In Substrate Calculator

Four approaches to nail hydration ratios — no guesswork:

①

Start with Dry Weight

Enter dry weight + water % → get total finished weight.

②

Start with Total Weight

Enter finished block weight + water % → get dry + water weights.

③

Water + Dry Weight

Enter water + dry weights → get water percentage.

④

Water % from Total + Dry

Enter total + dry weights → get water %.

About MycologyLog – Mushroom Cultivation Log & Grow Journal

MycologyLog.com is a photo-first, data-driven grow log for mushroom cultivation. Record every stage from inoculation to harvest, compare yields, and reuse substrate recipes to improve results.

As a child, I remember the van loads of wild mushrooms my dad would bring home after a long day of foraging. Meaty and large, my parents would spend hours cleaning, trimming, and blanching them so we could enjoy fresh mushrooms for many months.

I began mushroom cultivation around 2010 and quickly grew to love it as a hobby. Like any grower knows, there’s a long cycle from inoculation to harvest — and relying on memory is never the best method.

With a background in software development, I set out to create a tool that could track every step of the process. The result is MycologyLog.com — a data-driven mushroom grow log designed to help cultivators record, analyze, and learn from each grow.
